At Living Water Christian Church, this fall, we're wanting to reach everyone with the healing message of Jesus.  However you learn, we're trying to reach you this semester.  We also want to share a few of the ground rules that may be new for groups this time around.  

AUDITORY LEARNERS

Some people learn by hearing.  They learn through the "ear gate."  They hear it and they get it.  If that's you, congratulations!  That's what most churches do. A lot of talking and you listen. And you learn that way and that's good for you.  

VISUAL LEARNERS

Some people like to read it, and then they really get it.  They learn not through the ear gate, but through the eye gate.

ORAL LEARNERS

Some people hate to read, but they like to talk about it. If they sit in a small group and they discuss it they can say, "Yeah but…" and "What about it…" and "For instance…." In talking it out, these people learn it by talking. 

KINESTHETIC LEARNERS

Other people may not like to hear it, read it, or talk about it!  They're "doers."  Let them under the hood of a car and they'll start playing around with the carburetor. Don't give them a manual. They'll just figure it out. And they learn by doing.

So what Living Water is doing THIS FALL with the topic of getting over Habits, Hurts and Hang-ups, is reinforcing it different.  We hear it, we read it, we study it, we memorize it, we do it, we practice it, we talk about it; all these different things. That drives the nail in deeper than if we just heard sermons.

THE EAR GATE: Sunday Sermons

THE EYE GATE: Read the book Life's Healing Choices and watching the series of 8 Bible studies in a Watering Hole, providing more in-depth material than just on Sundays and in the book.

THE MOUTH GATE: Discuss what you're learning with the people in your Watering Hole.  Memorize a verse if you choose to do so.

THE DOERS: There are projects to do!

GROUND RULES FOR FALL 2010 SEMESTER WATERING HOLES

1. What is said in the groups, stays in the group.

2. Don't try to fix people.

3. Don't minimize others' pain.

4. Divide up into gender-specific subgroups for discussion.

5. Focus on MY OWN BROKENNESS.

This can be a life-changing eight weeks.  Are you ready to jump in and let the healing begin?

At Living Water, we help people CONNECT to God, GROW in their knowledge of Him individually and in groups, SERVE the church and the community around us, and GO MULTIPLY the life of Jesus in other people!

So, everything we do comes back to building relationships. 
Relationships with others.
A relationship with God.

We need real, authentic relationships with other people who can help us navigate through life. We need friends. At Living Water, we want to get to know you, and we want you to get to know us. 

At Living Water, we meet weekly in small groups called Watering Holes.  They're a great place to get to know other people who share things in common with you (or sometimes those who don't). Our groups meet in semesters (spring, summer and fall), for 10-12 weeks, so you won't feel like you're signing your life away when you sign up.  This fall, we will have many small groups meeting throughout the week. We'll all be working through "Life's Healing Choices."  Pick a group that's convenient to you, or one that matches you best!  So where should you start?

8 RECOVERY PRINCIPLES : THE ROAD TO RECOVERY

R = Principle 1
Realize I'm not God; I admit that I am powerless to control my tendency to do the wrong thing and my life is unmanageable.
"Happy are those who know they are spiritually poor"

E = Principle 2
Earnestly believe that God exists, that I matter to him, and that he has the power to help me recover. 
"Happy are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted"

C = Principle 3
Consciously choose to commit all my life and will to Christ's care and control. 
"Happy are the meek" 

O = Principle 4
Openly examine and confess my faults to God, to myself, and to someone I trust. 
"Happy are the pure in heart"

V = Principle 5
Voluntarily submit to every change God wants to make in my life and humbly ask Him to remove my character defects. 
"Happy are those whose greatest desire is to do what God requires" 

E = Principle 6
Evaluate all my relationships; Offer forgiveness to those who have hurt me and make amends for harm I've done to others except when to do so would harm them or others.

R = Principle 7
Reserve a daily time with God for self examination, Bible readings and prayer in order to know God and His will for my life and to gain the power to follow His will.

Y = Principle 8
Yield myself to God to be used to bring this Good News to others, both by my example and by my words.
