Living Water Coronavirus Updates

"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way...
The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress."

- Psalm 46:1-2, 11

Sunday Services

Through much prayer and counsel and following the guidance of the CDC and the decision of the Virginia state government, we have been exercising flexibility with online, parking lot, outdoors, and now indoor services until the threat of spreading the virus is past us.

In late May, we began branching out into parking lot services at both campuses, and in June we started indoor services in conjunction with outdoors and online!

Our elders and staff members have been in constant communication about your safety, the readiness of our facilities, and the overwhelming desire to continue to worship, but more corporately. It has become obvious that church is not about a place, but about Who we follow and who we walk with in the journey. Online avenues have been a real blessing, especially seeing your faces on Zoom, but we are eager to begin to move toward in-person gatherings.

1) We will continue to stream the online service over Zoom. This is now at 9:00 a.m. due to the heat, and will be fed from the Salem campus parking lot service. We will be looking to experience new forms of corporate worship soon.

2) Our Salem campus hosts an inside service and in the parking lot (on 92.9 FM) at 9:00 a.m. We are also streaming the Zoom feed on the back deck if you'd like to let your kids play.

3) Our Northside campus hosts a parking lot service at 10:00 a.m. with a Sunday School at 9:00 a.m. You can connect on 92.9 FM and by listening to the speakers in the parking lot!

Even these three options may look different going forward! Thank you for your patience, and your prayers for your leaders.

Have Kids?

We know how hard it is to make children isolate from each other and keep their distance. As a result, we will not be able to offer nurseries or classes for our children at this time.

We are working on some packets and activities your kids can do during the service while they sit (oh so patiently) in the car! RightNow Media is an excellent resource for biblical kids' content, and you can also download things for them to watch.

If you prefer to print your own activity pages, visit our H2O Kids Facebook page for those links.

We also know that some kids will want to play on the playground. We will NOT have them taped off, and know that if they play, it's completely at your discretion.

Recordings

On March 22 and 29, we provided a guide for you to use to worship on your own or with your family. This included ideas for home worship, a video sermon, Scripture readings, songs (with lyrics), and a prayer guide. These are still available for access here:

March 22 Worship at Home

March 29 Worship at Home

On April 5, we moved our services to Zoom!

All of our sermons and some services are available to watch on our Sermon Recordings page.

We know that nothing on a screen can replace the gathering of the church on the Lord's Day. But as we take the necessary precautions to protect those who are most vulnerable in our congregation and in our community, we pray that you'll join us in person as you feel comfortable, or from your homes as we seek to worship, praise, and pray to our good God in these uncertain times.
Social distancing is not spiritual distancing.

Giving

We also encourage you to continue to worship the Lord through the giving of tithes and offerings. We’re seeking to love like Jesus by caring for those in our community who are most vulnerable and those who are financially affected by quarantine and social distancing. We ask you to join us in providing for their needs by giving like the example of the early church in Acts 2 who “were together and had everything in common.” You can give online or by mailing gifts to our offices:

Salem campus: 1520 Swimmer Lane, Salem VA 24153

Northside campus: 5110 Florist Road, Roanoke VA 24012

We're also beginning to collect food and other household items to aid those who are unable to leave their homes. If you have items to drop off, take them to the Salem campus and leave them on the back deck, by the kitchen door. Then, call or text 540-389-2920 and let us know you have made a drop.

We need:

  • cans and boxes of food

  • protein (peanut butter, tuna, canned chicken)

  • paper products

  • cleaning supplies and sanitizer

  • boxes and totes for delivery

  • volunteers!

Small Groups

For us to continue as a community of believers we consider it more vital now than ever to be engaged in a small group. These groups will continue to meet using various online platforms like FaceTime, Zoom, or conference calling at the discretion of the group leader. If you're already a part of a group, contact your group leader for more information about how your group will continue. If you're not part of a group, we want to encourage you not to walk through this time alone, but find community with other followers of Jesus who can encourage you and remind you of our hope in him. To learn more about small groups and ways to join them, send an email to jamie@drinkitup.org to get connected.
